The mandate was to produce a brand identity for a new restaurant offering southern American cuisine to a mainly hipster clientele. The assignment consisted of designing multiple promotional items for the new brand. This project was created in collaboration with Samantha Di Niro, Jonathan Marcotte and Jean-Michel Doumar.

The concept behind Okra’s Gumbo House logo design was to appeal to Millennials and GenX potential customers, by mixing vintage with contemporary elements. Through the use of a star like okra symbol, by using bended, 3D, distressed vernacular typefaces, it serves to remind us of old southern American signage, similar to liquors like Bourbon or Whiskey.
